Southern Football Hits ESPN2

Ok, a lot has happened since my last posting. We have produced two Southern Football TV shows. One has aired on ESPN2, you can see the entire show at: http://www.secsportsreport.com/seceast/southern-football-tv-visits-athens-ga.shtml

The show that aired on espn2 is what we commonly refer to as the Athens show. It featured the behind the scenes in Athens, Georgia the day the Tennessee Vols came to town. The show has segments with Georgia co-eds, a radio interview on WUOG, an afternoon shopping in downtown Athens and finished the day at the Bulldog RV park.

This particular show was just a lot of fun to create. I had Renee Rayles at my side and she just brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the set. We never really know what the other person is going to say but amazingly we manage to work it in and make it entertaining.

Our next petition is to go up on a national network as a weekly show underwritten by huge sponsors. Anything is possible with our God!

If you want to check out our Auburn show, go to http://www.secfootballtv.com/

For now, keep believing in big miracles. That's all we know to do.

SEC Football TV Show--Part 2

I got involved with the sports marketing class at South Forsyth High School and was quite surprised at the great ideas the students brought to light.

I've been working with the class over a couple of months and they had great ideas for the new SEC Sports Report website, the speaking tour and an SEC Football Reality TV Show. The class loved the traveling SEC football show idea and worked in groups to come up with the first show.

The prevailing themes were a "reality show" covering more behind the scenes kinds of things in SEC football. They loved scenes with different places to tailgate, avid fan interviews and finding former players and finding out what they are doing. They also liked learning about each school and interaction with journalist that cover the sport.

I am working on what I feel directed to do and letting God handle the rest. It's all about grace and I serve a big God!

SEC Football TV Show

God has plans much bigger than mine. The idea for an SEC Football TV show keeps getting brought up to me. I know what it would look like. A traveling show on a forty foot RV showcasing SEC football and fans from behind the scenes. Interviews with former players, journalist, sports radio guys, SEC fans etc.

I've found a production group in Promoxie who likes the idea and has affordable rates. Comcast has several time slots available for a big broadcast in the metro Atlanta area.

We need a host sponsor who wants their business to be showcased on an SEC football show. The host sponsor would be integrated into the show.

I just bought http://www.secfootball.tv/ and we will start putting info on it soon.

This project is bigger than me. That's how God works. All I know to do is ask for God's grace. I know He can do it. Praise the Lord!

Go After Your Dream by Coach J

A Message from Coach J

God gives us all things that we are passionate about. Discover it, nurture it and get involved with your passion!

Fortunately, I get to meet a lot of young people when I'm out in public. My message to them is always the same. "Go after your dream." Do what you love, follow your heart and pursue a career path that gets you excited in the morning.

The next question that follows is what should I do? Start with volunteering or get any job in the chosen field. If you want to be a writer, start writing stories about your favorite teams and publish them on some place like Bleacher Report. Fans and writers will give you feedback which will increase your writing skills.

If you want to be a coach, start working with a high school program as a volunteer. Turn off the tv and start spending time with people working in your dream job. You have to pay some dues in whatever you pursue so the sooner you get started, the better off you will be.

When you first launch out, the criticism can be tough because the dream is so close to your heart. But as time goes on, you learn to welcome it, because usually what is meant to be for your destruction, can be the spark that pushed you over the top.

Whatever you choose, there will be resistance. If you love it, you will pursue it regardless of the obstacles. As people punch holes in your dream, it forces you to make the dream real. Making it real means connecting a revenue stream to your chosen field.

Great ideas are a dime a dozen. If you know your dream, you have opened the first door. But there are many doors on this journey. What seperates the winners from the losers is the execution of a sound strategy. Next time, we will talk about strategy...

If you want me to coach you to your dream job, call me at 770-844-9377. I don't want anybody to miss out on their dream, so I use a sliding scale based on your income. Life is short, go for your dream!

Believe, Trust and Obey

We have just finished up the Easter Weekend. I believe I have done the things God has asked me to do. I've entered into the sports world, I've stepped up to the speaker's platform to be a voice for God.

I've submitted, obeyed and now its my time to trust. I'm expecting miracles and favor from people whom I've never contacted and that way I know it's God and not me. I'm believing that their are events being orchestrated right now that will positively effect my speaking career so that I can impact lives for Jesus Christ. My steps are ordered so there is no reason to worry. Just obey.

My story is one that only God could have mapped out. My biggest qualification is I'm available for God to use me. I love SEC sports. God is an awesome Father. Let the miracles begin...

Thank You from No Longer Bound

The following is a letter from Blake Chapman who is an administrator with No Longer Bound.
Jay came out and spoke to us here a few weeks ago. The way he relayed his journey into the sports media field, and how Christ opened doors, guided and directed him was very moving and encouraging for all of us.

He brought to the room a very "sport" (manly) feel or environment.

During his talk, he was funny, informative, (he told personal stories and kept our attention) and again very inspiring and moving. It was easy to see that not only does Jay have a passion for sports, but also for helping others.

It was a very enjoyable and rewarding night for us.

Another Christian Sports Speaker--Only God Could Make This Happen

ATLANTA, Ga- God gives us the desires of our heart? I had never heard that in church growing up. My desire four years ago was to get down on the field for an SEC Football game.

It was a lot harder than I thought but God found a way and so much more. This is my journey with God as he opens doors and reveals new things to me every day. I went from being an avid SEC fan, to a blogger, to a sports writer to a credentialed member of the SEC sports media, to a motivational speaker.

I've sat in the media box with TV sports reporters that I watched on tv as a fan, I've spent a couple of years as a guest on sports radio on stations around the South and I've been on the field numerous times and it gives me a high, I cannot describe.

When I prayed for SEC merchandise, I've seen God move in a next door neighbor who sells SEC merchandise and now provides all the SEC props for my speeches.

When I prayed for a good night at a Gamecock meeting which meant I was hoping to make good contacts. I got there early and was introduced to Steve Spurrier and his coaches. Then God put me in a private room with Steve Spurrier, his wife and a couple of USC coaches while they waited for event to start. I got to talk to Coach Spurrier and see up close how competitive he really is.

When I wrote a story about the #1 running back in the country, God had his step father call me in the last week of recruiting and walk the family through my belief that he should play in-state.

I made a friend and got to spend signing day with the family and pray in the middle of their living room for success, favor and God's blessing in everything they did.

Now I've joined FootballSpeakers.com (who happened to advertise on my site) and I'm going around the South talking to companies and churches about lessons I've learned from SEC Coaches about winning, beating adversity and never giving up.

Thank goodness, God's plans are much bigger than my goals.
